Meet The Artist:
Leslie Day is a clay artist who enjoys the physical experience of working with this raw material. She understands the clay remembers every stretch, fold, and shape. It captures the inspiration and energy of the moment.
Influenced by a previous career in architecture, Leslie enjoys the forms that can be created with clay. “Form follows function”, the idea that an object’s shape should be determined by its use resonates with her. The clean lines and stylized designs of her work are a modern echo of the Arts and Crafts era. Imprints of trees, flowers, and apples reflect the natural surroundings of the Hendersonville area.
Many of Leslie’s pieces include a spiral stamp on the back. A symbol of the continuous learning in her life’s journey.
Leslie’s goal is to bring together form, color, and texture in a way that results in colorful pottery that invites you to touch it.
“Through form, color, and texture an object made for purpose becomes a pleasure to use.” –Leslie Day
